Eva Weaver

Eva Weaver has been devising solo-performances over the past seven years. Her visceral and richly layered performances, both durational and time-based, have a strong visual emphasis and concern issues of cross-cultural identity and belonging, historical trauma and stereotyping. Her work is informed by her cultural heritage and experience of being German and living in the UK as well as her own shamanic work, interest in myth, the Burlesque and Grotesque. It includes elements of performance-action, song, bi-lingual language, autobiographical material, story-telling, video-projection and the transformation of materials into sculptural objects or costumes such as wrapping and casting of bones, paper-cutting, work with wool, ink and earth and the recent use of bread, culminating in a dress made from bread. The traces left at the end of her performances contain a tangible essence of what has taken place, inviting the audience to further reflect on the piece in the absence of the performer.
