Clara García Fraile is a visual artist and performer.
Her film, installation, performance and written work aims to construct imaginary and often surreal situations in which the ‘viewer’ is invited to step in and play: play a role, play along, play an old forgotten song, play a game, play...
Inspired by magic realism, situationism, fairgrounds and scientific reports she cannot really understand, her work is not just the performance, the film or the book, but also the games they trigger off: games between reality and fiction, between you and me, between what she imagines, what you imagine and what you can touch and feel.
Former student of Journalism and Media, she graduated with a First Class BA Honours Degree in Performance and Visual Art (Dance) at the University of Brighton in 2008.
Her work has been exhibited in diverse contexts, such as The National Review of Live Art 2009 (Elevator), Dance for Camera Festival 2008 (South East Dance), Digiville (Lighthouse), Final Cut and EmergeAndSee Film Festival.
She often performs, films and devises her work in collaboration with media artist Sam Pearson under the umbrella of Parachutes and Puzzles.
Clara is also a supported artist of The Basement and a member of the performance group Lost Parade.
